December starts with windy weather
Despite it being the start of meteorological winter and the start of December, warmer weather is on its way. However, that is the good news. The bad news is the warmer weather comes with very windy conditions starting Thursday and will be the case for Friday, too.
Gusts will pick up early in the morning on Thursday, ranging from 30-45 miles per hour through midday and beyond. We’ll stay windy overnight into the end of the work week.
It’s the southern winds that will be good for transporting some warmer air through our area. We’ll make a run for the 50s for the daytime high on Thursday, preceded by a warmer morning that started off in the 20s rather than the teens the day before.
After Thursday, we’ll be experiencing a common roller coaster of temperatures for us in Nebraska, warming up to the 60s by Friday before a dry cold front passes late Friday evening, leaving much colder air behind it. We are likely going to have single-digit wind chills to start the day Saturday. Heading into this weekend, if you have yet to put up outside decorations, Sunday looks to be calmer in terms of the wind and warmer with temperatures nearing 50° again.
There is not a ton of precipitation chances with the start of December, looking ahead into next week. We will stay dry for some time to come, yet there is a small chance to see a mix/light snow Monday night into Tuesday.
