DHHS announces new out-of-state blocking feature for EBT cards

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has announced a new block to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.

The cards may block purchases made outside of Nebraska starting Nov. 4.

According to DHHS, the out-of-state blocking includes in-person purchases and online orders with out-of-state delivery or pickup locations.

The blocking feature is aimed at preventing fraud by stopping unauthorized EBT transactions in other states.

EBT recipients can turn off out-of-state blocking, but the feature will reset at the end of each month.
