Diary of a Wimpy Kid author visits rural Nebraska school

ADAMS, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 27, Jeff Kinney, the author of the famous Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, visited students at Freeman Public Schools (FPS).

Kinney’s team planned a Halloween-themed assembly for the students who didn’t have school and thought they were coming in for something completely different.

The media specialist, Becky Weyere for FPS worked with Kinney’s team to create the surprise for the children who had just finished the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book.

The event consisted of games, book talks and surprises. Along with that, librarians and students from surrounding schools were invited to attend the surprise.

At the surprise, Kinney announced a personal donation of $1,000 worth of diverse children’s books and additional Diary of a Wimpy Kid books to the school library.
