Disney’s ‘Newsies’ brings the magic to Pinewood Bowl
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln summer tradition is again wowing audiences.
Pinewood Bowl’s 72nd Annual Summer Musical features Disney’s “Newsies.”
The musical tells the story of a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of young newsies who decide to fight the unfair conditions of their jobs.
The cast is composed entirely of Nebraska artists.
The annual show is a decadelong tradition, and organizers hope these shows bring more people into the world of performing arts.
“Our entire goal is to get as many people out here as possible,” said Emily Maldavs, artistic director of Pinewood Performing Arts. “We recognize that frequently, people who come see us, it’s their first experience with musical theater and very frequently, it turns them into lifelong lovers of the arts.”
“Newsies” will be on stage Saturday and Sunday nights, as well as next Thursday through Sunday.
Shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults and $6 for children 5 to 12. Parking is free.
