LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One of the people involved in a drug robbery that turned violent was sent to prison on Thursday.

U.S. District Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced 19-year-old Xavier Lloyd Gary of Lincoln to 30 months in prison for attempted possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Gary was part of a group that set up a marijuana purchase in the parking lot of Marcus Edgewood Cinema on Aug. 2, 2021.

But the deal was a setup for a robbery, authorities said.

Two of the sellers, Jayden Prentice and Christopher Duncan, were shot.

First responders had to resuscitate Duncan, and he ended up having one of his legs amputated, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Gary did not fire any shots, authorities said, but he drove the vehicle to and from the theater.

Buongkhoy Wal pleaded guilty in March to discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. He is set to be sentenced on July 31.

The sellers — Prentice, Duncan and Riley Mills — pleaded guilty to drug offenses.

Mills was sentenced to more than seven years in prison, and Prentice will spend six years behind bars.

Duncan will be sentenced on July 17.

After prison, Gary will spend two years on supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
