‘We are hurting’: Family, friends give updates on Edgewood shooting victims
Family and friends are sharing updates on the condition of two teenagers critically injured in a south Lincoln shooting.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Family and friends are sharing updates on the condition of two teenagers critically injured in a south Lincoln shooting.
Jayden Prentice, 19, and Christopher (CJ) Duncan, 18, were both shot Monday night when shots were fired outside Edgewood Cinema near 56th and Hwy 2.
Investigators say they believe a vehicle with three men inside – Prentice, Duncan and a third – met another vehicle that had multiple people inside before the gunfire was exchanged.
“Jayden was shot in the face by someone who didn’t know him and didn’t care about what a caring person he is,” Brenda McGuire, who identified herself as Prentice’s aunt, wrote in a GoFundMe post.
McGuire says a bullet went through Prentice’s cheek and into is neck, and that he is on a ventilator. She says a team of 20 doctors is working on him.
Prentice’s mother also wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“Jayden is my last child, he is my baby boy and the pain I’m feeling is so intense,” she said.
Another fundraiser has been created for Duncan’s family.
“CJ was in the wrong place during a shooting that took place at Edgewood movie theater and has been hit and seriously injured,” the organizer wrote. “Cj didn’t deserve this I can promise you that and him and his family should not be in the position they’re in.”
LPD says several people were in the area at the time of the shooting, and that some of them may have attempted to aid the victims prior to officers arriving.
Investigators would like to speak with those people as they may have information that can be helpful to the investigation.
No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
