Lincoln garage destroyed in early morning fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews battled a fire in central Lincoln early Wednesday morning.

Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil said the call came in around 5 a.m.

He said the blaze started in a detached garage near 22nd and Sumner streets and spread to a home.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the garage is a total loss, with around $30,000 in damage. The home sustained around $25,000 in damage, according to Lierman.

The residents of the home were forced to evacuate, but no one was injured.

Pospisil said the fire was extinguished in 10 minutes, but the cause of the flames is still under investigation.
