Elevated fire potential today 4/8/2022
Wind gusts are around 30 mph this morning and its resulting in wind chill values around 10-20°. Grab your heavy coats before you head out the door, and plan on another bad hair day. While wind gusts technically won’t be as gusty as yesterday, they still will gust around 30 mph. These strong wind gusts combined with dry air this afternoon and evening is raising the concern for fire weather. A Red Flag Warning will go into effect at noon and will remain in effect until 9 PM today. Avoid burning, open flames, throwing cigarettes’ outside your car and keep an eye out for fires.
Clouds will decrease throughout the morning and eventually will result in more sunshine for the second half of your Friday. This will help boost temperatures out of the 40s and into the low 5os for highs today.
Temperatures plunge overnight and drop into the low to mid-20s with wind speeds finally relaxing. The weekend will be warmer in the 60s and 70s with mostly sunny skies.
