Nebraska got a big grant to help end youth homelessness.
Nebraska was awarded 3.2 million dollars.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development made the announcement in Kearney today.
It’s to help youth under the age of 22 that are facing housing difficulties.
Limited housing and job opportunities contribute to youth homelessness.
Betty Medinger, Senior Vice President of Nebraska Children & Families Foundation, says, "If you don’t have a steady source of income or often is the case with a part time job it’s very hard to make rent. So there is a host of issues or barriers that are not insurmountable and we have some strategies and other states have strategies that we are going to be looking at to maybe bring in new ideas and new ways to think about this."
Officials say these funds are going to be used specifically in rural communities, who do not have access to the resources of a larger city.
