Families spend breakfast with Santa in downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — With Christmas lists in hand, several of Lincoln’s youngest woke up early Saturday to meet Santa.

The Courtyard Marriott worked with the Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation to bring back the Breakfast with Santa event.

The event took a few years off because of Coivd-19 restrictions but came back with more visitors than normal.

One of the coordinators Stacy Clouse said over 300 people showed up in the first couple of hours.

Families could enjoy a warm meal and then line up outside the event hall to get a chance to sit down with ole Saint Nick. Saturday’s meal was cooked by Buzzard Billy’s with coffee provided by The Mill.

“[The kids] are so excited to give their wish list to Santa, getting in their requests for what they are looking for Christmas,” Clouse said.

Santa wasn’t the only guest star at the event as those who leaned more toward the naughty side could meet with the Grinch for a grumpy photo.

The event wasn’t just for the kids. Clouse said parents also got to get in on the fun by meeting with both guest stars to share what they want for the holidays.

“Parents are having a fun time taking selfies with Santa,” she said. “They’re taking pictures for the whole year.”

After the meet and greets kids stopped by Santa’s mailbox to make sure he didn’t forget what they wanted, with some dropping off a couple of pictures and thank you notes.

Guests were invited to stay later to take part in the Haymarket Unwrapped shopping event that goes from noon to 6 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 4th.
