Fatal House Fire In Wymore
Tragedy hit a small Gage County community hard Monday.
A firefighter in Wymore lost his life, after trying to save a woman and her two children from their burning home.
Wymore is south of Beatrice.
31 year old Wymore Volunteer firefighter, Jeremy Wach lost his life after being called to a house fire early Monday morning.
Wach was one of 3 firemen called to the scene at a house on Highway 77 and Wymore…
He was killed after the roof collapsed on top of him…
Wach also worked for the Gage County Sherriff's Department first as a Deputy and recently as a jail director…
Law enforcement is a little uncertainty, on if you're going to go home every night.
More than 5 local fire departments from Gage County were called the burning house just before one oclock Monday morning…
Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour tells us moments after crew's arrived three fire-fighters entered into the home, and the roof collapsed.
Ritnour says one of the fire-fighters was able to get out right away…
The second had to be pulled out by another fire-fighter and a sherriff depuity.
And the third, 31-year-old Jeremy Wach died at the scene…
Gage County Sherrif, Millard Gustafson says Wach loved his job and it was a somber day without him.
Jeremy Wach's family said it was too soon to talk to Channel 8 about his life but those he worked with say he will be missed dearly.
Wach was just sworn in as a Wymore Volunteer Firefighters on Friday.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.
The woman and her two kids escaped the fire with minor injuries.
The state fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
