First responders rescue man after truck plunges into northeast Nebraska creek

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was seriously injured Friday when he crashed a truck into a creek near Pilger.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. at the Humbug Creek bridge on Highway 275, just a mile west of Pilger.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said a 37-year-old Wisner man was heading west in a truck, hauling scrap metal.

Witnesses said the truck’s rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control and plunge into the creek.

The sheriff’s office said the man – who did not wear a seat belt – was stuck inside the truck and had to be extricated.

He was taken to a hospital in Norfolk with serious injuries.
