Five sent to hospital after crash at dangerous southeast Nebraska intersection

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that two adults and three children under the age of 3 were taken to a hospital after a crash last week.

Sheriff Robert Sorenson said it happened at the intersection of Church Road and Highway 63 near Greenwood around 4:20 p.m. Friday.

The sheriff said a 22-year-old woman from Omaha driving a Nissan Rogue didn’t see a southbound Honda Odyssey while turning north onto Highway 63.

The collision made the Odyssey roll into a nearby ditch, the sheriff said.

All five people inside the Odyssey, two adults and three children, were sent to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The two occupants of the Nissan Rogue declined medical treatment.

The driver was cited for failure to yield, according to the sheriff.

This intersection of Highway 63 and Church Road has been the site of several deadly crashes, prompting a study by Cass County officials.

Most recently, four people were killed in July when a Lincoln man failed to stop.
