Flood swamps Blood in Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District

Mike Flood

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Rep. Mike Flood will be headed back to Washington.

The Republican incumbent handily defeated Democratic State Sen. Carol Blood on Tuesday.

As of 11:50 p.m., he had 56% of the vote in Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District.

Flood has a long history in Nebraska politics, serving two stints in the Legislature and rising to the position of speaker.

In June 2022, he won a special election to complete the term of Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, who resigned after being convicted of lying to the FBI.

Flood won a full term that November.

He serves on the Financial Services Committee, and his campaign ads have emphasized positions like securing the border and limiting the influence of China.
