Food Bank talks volunteers, produce truck

Since July 1, 2021, nearly 3,900 individuals have contributed more than 20,000 volunteer hours for the Food Bank.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- April is ‘National Volunteer Month’ and Food Bank of Lincoln is celebrating and appreciating everyone who has given back to our community through volunteering.

Since July 1, 2021, nearly 3,900 individuals have contributed more than 20,000 volunteer hours for the Food Bank.

The Lincoln Fresh mobile produce truck is back in action for the 2022 season. Lincoln Fresh distributes free fruits and vegetables at 14 different sites around Lincoln. This truck is open to everyone, no paper work or identification is needed.

Construction of the new Food Bank facility in northwest Lincoln is almost complete. According to a Food Bank press release, they are on track to move and begin operating from the new headquarters on May 2.

The LPS Extra Mile Walk is happening on April 23. This event raises funds for the Food Bank of Lincoln’s Child Hunger Programs.
