Former Husker Nick Gates signs with Washington Commanders

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Washington Commanders are adding to their offensive line with former Husker Nick Gates.

Gates, who played four seasons with the New York Giants, signed with the Commanders on Thursday.  The details of his deal were not disclosed, according to a press release.


So far in his NFL career, Gates has played in 34 games with 21 starts, including 17 at center.  He’s also played a handful of games at right tackle and left guard.

During his four seasons at Nebraska, Gate played in 35 games and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2016.

Another former Husker, Lavonte David, re-signed with the Tampa Buccaneers on Wednesday.
