Four-vehicle crash in east Lincoln sends one to hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A crash in east Lincoln on Sunday night sent one person to the hospital.

Just before 8:30 p.m., several first responders were sent to the area of Wedgewood Drive and O Street, just east of 70th Street.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, four cars and eight people were involved in the crash.

LPD said an 18-year-old driver of a black 2014 Ford Focus was speeding west on O Street.

According to the crash report, he was driving 70-80 mph in a 40 mph zone.

As he went to pass three cars, the driver said he lost control of his vehicle due to an oil spill in the road, according to the crash report.

The driver then crashed into the back of a 2012 Lincoln MKX, causing that car to crash into a concrete pole under the Mopac Trail Bridge.

According to the crash report, the driver of a third car — a 2006 Kia Spectra — then lost control, crashing into the back of the Lincoln.

The driver of a 2015 Toyota Camry then crashed into the back of the Kia, LPD said.

According to a witness of the crash, the driver of the Ford Focus hit a curb before losing control of his vehicle.
