Fred Hoiberg explains life as a coach in quarantine
Being stuck at home while social distancing, has definitely left for an interesting life for Nebraska's men's basketball coach as he prepares for his second season with the Huskers.
LINCOLN – Don’t be mistaken, Fred Hoiberg is still working.
But being stuck at home while social distancing, has definitely left for an interesting life for Nebraska’s men’s basketball coach as he prepares for his second season with the Huskers.
“Well I wake up at seven, I watch ‘Good Morning America,'” Hoiberg said in a teleconference on Thursday. “I drink a cup of coffee. I get on the Pelaton. Try and get that out of the way. If I don’t do it by ten I don’t get it done. Then I start making calls as far as recruiting and my staff. Just talking about daily updates as far as our administrators. Then I’ll get on the computer and watch film, either our stuff from last year or projects we’re working on right now. Then sometimes it feels like it was when I was let go I start doing a puzzle and drink another cup of coffee.
“It’s really weird. It’s a crazy time, but again hopefully with everything that’s going on right now and the numbers we’re seeing. I’m so glued to the news. My kids, I’m driving them nuts because I’m waiting to see Dr. Fauci do his daily updates. It’s just a bizarre time. But hopefully everyone continues to adhere by the rules, continue to do the social distancing and get this thing behind us here soon.”
Hoiberg recently signed five new transfers for the 2020 recruiting class. He said he’s hoping the Huskers can return to Lincoln and begin practicing for the upcoming season sometime in June.
