GIPS staff member is placed on leave for inappropriate behavior

(KHGI) A Grand Island elementary school staff member is on leave and an investigation underway, according to a message from G.I. Public Schools.
Grand Island Police said they are investigating a report from three students of suspicious behavior including sexual contact by a school employee.
An email, obtained by by our partner station NTV News, was sent to Engleman Elementary parents Wednesday.
“We are reaching out to inform you of an investigation into alleged inappropriate behavior by a staff member at Engleman Elementary. As is our policy, we have reported this to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and local law enforcement,” it said.
The message said students reported the “situation” and that the school has communicated with the parents of the children involved.

“Engleman Parents,
We are reaching out to inform you of an investigation into alleged inappropriate behavior by a staff member at Engleman Elementary. As is our policy, we have reported this to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and local law enforcement. The staff member is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation. We thank the students who reported the situation to adults at the school. We have communicated with the parents of the children involved. As always, we strive to create a safe environment for students, staff and the entire school community.

GIPS released the same statement to NTV Thursday and a spokesperson said school staff would not be answering questions.
