Grand Island home a total loss after flames tear through property Monday morning

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Grand Island Fire Department says the home that caught fire early Monday morning is a total loss.

It was first reported on Midaro Drive around 6:00 a.m.

Heavy smoke could be seen billowing high into the air from all across the community.

Crews from the Grand Island Rural Fire Department and the Alda Volunteer Fire Department also joined in Monday’s battle.

We’re told it took about two and a half hours to get the blaze under control.

A lack of nearby fire hydrants made the fire even more difficult to put out, in addition to the bitterly cold temperature.

The cause of this blaze is still under investigation.

There were no reported injuries.
