Group of artists raise money for domestic violence shelters
The auction will be held until Dec. 8.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A group of women from around the world are auctioning off their art to raise money for a domestic violence shelter in Lincoln.
Amy Johnson, founder of AmysCreativeAcrylics, created a Facebook group where people can bid on art pieces that her and six other artists have made.
“I’m really super excited about it,” said Johnson. “We’ve had it on for almost a week now and so far the other girls and I have gotten $353.”
Johnson came up with the idea and asked her friends from YouTube if they wanted to join in on it.
“We have seven artists that are from all over the world and six of the seven have gone through domestic violence which is so sad,” Johnson said.
Johnson says their goal is to raise as much as they can before the auction ends on Dec. 8.
All of the proceeds will be donated to Voices of Hope in Lincoln. People also have the chance to donate directly to the shelter on their Facebook group as well.
