Hands-on mechanic experience at Northeast High

Northeast High School students have a big opportunity.
They’re getting hands on experience working with cars right inside their school.
Their auto body shop just got a make-over. There are 4 new lifts, so kids can bring in their own cars to learn on.
There’s a brand new exhaust system so it’s safer and a whole lot more room for the 60 students in the classes to get a taste of being a mechanic.
“It’s not your typical class room they can get right in there and learn on their cars, it’s really exciting to have this opportunity,” says Jacob Gardner.
He says there are many students who hope to be mechanics and this will help them get there.
The welding shop also got some new equipment.
