Hazy morning, then small chance of rain
Smoke blankets Lincoln and eastern Nebraska, moving in Tuesday night from prescribed burns in eastern Kansas.
Skies will be hazy with an otherwise very warm morning compared to days past.
The trend in the air quality has been in the right direction, improving from overnight to early this morning.
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department has us in an air quality advisory through Wednesday morning.
The “Moderate” category most of us are in means that there may be a risk for some people, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
Smoke should be on its way out this afternoon with a lot less concentration at the surface later, thanks to the northwest winds today.
There will be a very small chance at some rain this afternoon and tonight for a select few across the state. Most will miss out.
Warmer weather is here to stay, with toasty temperatures by this weekend. But before we get to the weekend, temperatures will be in the upper 60s and 70s in the days ahead!
And as we start to put some of the colder mornings behind us, keep in mind there still may be at least a chance to see another morning at the end of the month below freezing before we’re in the clear.
Our average last spring freeze in eastern Nebraska happens within the last two weeks of April.
The extended forecast into next week largely looks to remain dry.
