Heat continues into Monday, then storms cool us off
With the excessive heat and humidity, there is a Heat Advisory for most of the state and an Excessive Heat Warning for eastern Nebraska for Sunday.
We’ll do this all over again on Monday, but this should be the last very hot day. For now.
The heat index will once again be in the 100 to 110 degree range.
The southern half of the state will be the warmest on Monday, so this is where the Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warnings will be.
A cool down is on the way in the form of a cold front, but this will also bring us a chance for strong to severe storms. There is a level 1 and 2 “Marginal” to “Slight” risk for the state on Monday.
Below is what our latest StormCast weather model is showing for timing and severity of storms Monday into early Tuesday.
The main severe weather risk will be damaging wind. Isolated hail is possible and while tornadoes aren’t likely, an isolated one is possible.
