Highlights from Pres. Obama’s State of Union Speech

In his sixth State of the Union address, President Obama declared an economic resurgence, doubling down on improving wages for the middle class.

The president called for middle class tax cuts, paid sick leave, and two years of free community college education.

In the wake of a global crackdown on terrorism, President Obama called for Congress to pass a resolution to authorize the use of force against ISIS. 

Fresh of American contractor Alan Gross’ release from a Cuban jail and the announcement that the U.S. and Cuba would work to restore diplomatic relations, the president urged Congress to “begin the work of ending the embargo” against the island nation.

Overall, the president called for bipartisan cooperation.
