Highs flirt with the 60s today and tomorrow 12/23/2021

All of Nebraska is off to a warmer start on this Thursday morning! Wind chill values range from the 20-30s currently, compared to the single digits that we saw at the start of the week. This warm trend will continue into the afternoon and evening today, as highs will near the mid to upper 50s. I can’t rule out the chance for a few 60s even today! The afternoon will start off mostly sunny, but filtered sunshine is likely later today as clouds are expected to build into the area. More clouds push in just in time for overnight tonight, and this will prevent temperatures from dropping. Most of southeast NE will start off Christmas Eve in the 30s, with highs later in the day in the 60s! We cool down a bit for Christmas day, as highs return to the mid to upper 40s. This is technically still above average for December. A few spotty showers are possible after midnight into the early hours on Christmas day, but the rest of the day looks dry. Cooler air arrives to end off the month of December and 2021! Highs in the 20s and 30s are likely, as well as a few chances for precipitation next week.
