Husker basketball’s Sam Griesel hosts blood drive with American Red Cross
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska senior guard Sam Griesel put on a full-court press for blood donations on Friday.
Griesel, who had a bleeding stomach ulcer in 2021, hosted a blood drive with the American Red Cross.
The Lincoln East graduate credits a four-hour blood transfusion for helping him quickly get back to basketball.
So he wanted to encourage the community to give blood.
“And I just want, you know, each person that comes through here today to know that they’re, you know, changing lives and making an impact in this community,” Griesel said.
Almost 100 people made an appointment for the blood drive, which also had some walk-ins.
