Husker RB Ajay Allen out for rest of season after having surgery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – One member of the Huskers’ backfield will be out for the rest of the season due to an injury.

Running back Ajay Allen had surgery Monday, interim head coach Mickey Joseph said during a Tuesday press conference.

“He’s doing fine, he came out of surgery it went well,” Joseph said.  “He’s gonna miss the rest of the season and it’s gonna hurt us.”

Allen will now be redshirted, which grants him another year of eligibility.

This season, Allen has run for two touchdowns and 190 yards in 33 rushing attempts.

On Saturday against No. 6 Oklahoma, Allen rushed 11 times for 49 yards in the 49-14 loss.
