LINCOLN – Several Nebraska student-athletes have posted a request for more diversity and minority representation among leaders within Nebraska Athletics.
Using the hashtag “LegacyOverImage”, the group of athletes, including softball player Courtney Wallace and women’s basketball player Sam Haiby, wants the University to have more minority leaders and coaches. Nebraska has never had a black head coach in any sports.
“The motto ingrained on Memorial Stadium states, ‘Not the victory but the action: Not the goal but the game: I the deed the glory,'” writes Wallace and other student-athletes apart of this initiative on Twitter. “This is our deed as Nebraska student-athletes.”
