LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska volleyball’s Virginia Adriano was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Adriano averaged 3.00 kills per set with a .452% hitting percentage. She also added 1.50 blocks per set and served four aces in Nebraska’s sweeps over Iowa and No. 17 Indiana.

On Thursday, Adriano had nine kills with a .500% hitting percentage, adding three blocks and a career-high three aces in a sweep over Iowa.

On Saturday, the Turin, Italy, native racked up nine kills with a .412% hitting percentage, tallying a career-best six blocks and another ace in the sweep over No. 17 Indiana.

In November, Adriano is averaging 2.70 kills per set with a .380% hitting percentage.

The Huskers will look to stay undefeated in their match with Penn State on Friday.

First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Center.
