LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)– UPDATE: The Seward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the large crash on Interstate 80 on Tuesday morning killed three people.

Around 5:45 a.m., a semi was traveling east on I-80 when it crossed the median, striking another semi head-on, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A third semi traveling westbound swerved to avoid the collision, then crossed the median and overturned in the eastbound lane.

The crash killed three people, all of whom were pronounced deceased at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A fourth person was life-flighted to Bryan Medical Center in critical condition.

Officials said the identities of the victims will be released at a later date.

The crash is being investigated by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office and a Nebraska State Patrol crash scene reconstructionist. The Seward Police Department, Milford Fire, and Seward Fire responded to the crash.

As of 10:30 a.m., traffic on I-80 resumed normal patterns east and westbound near mile marker 380.
