UPDATE: Two dead in Thursday morning I-80 crash

Road conditions are thought to be a factor, authorities say.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – UPDATE: Two have died following a crash on Interstate 80 in Seward County on Thursday, according to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a single-vehicle crash on I-80 around 3:15 a.m near mile marker 381.

A preliminary investigation shows that a semitrailer truck was traveling west on I-80 when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.  Road conditions are thought to be a factor, authorities say.

The two individuals inside the semitrailer were pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident is currently being investigated by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — I-80 westbound has been reopened this morning, following a crash near Milford.

It was first reported around 5 a.m. in an area that the Nebraska Department of Transportation reports is completely covered in ice.
