AAA Northeast: Gas prices drop 12 cents in Rhode Island

Rhode Island Gas Shoots Up 15 Cents From Last Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — AAA Northeast said Monday that gas prices in Rhode Island dropped an average of 12 cents over the last week.

Last week’s average price was $3.81 while this week’s is $3.69.

Monday’s gas prices are 53 cents lower than they were a month ago, and 62 cents higher than they were at this time last year.

Gas in the Ocean State is two cents cheaper than the national average.

“Less expensive oil usually leads to less expensive gas for drivers,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for AAA Northeast.

“This trend has helped pump prices fall steadily for three straight months and, with fall approaching, more markets could soon see prices drop toward or below $3 per gallon,” he added.
