Assistant News Director

Want to live in the “Ocean State” and reshape a newsroom? WLNE-TV/ABC 6, the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, is looking for an Assistant News Director who can drive the day-to-day process and work with our News Director as WLNE moves to an exciting new direction.

Top candidates will have strong editorial judgement and leadership skills — and must be passionate about winning breaking news. The Assistant News Director collaborates with the News Director and the entire news management team to execute strategic coverage and innovate storytelling both on-air and online.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of local news leadership experience and exceptional understanding of news content in the digital/social world
  • Detail-oriented and understands how the content drives the storytelling format for various platforms
  • Works effectively under deadlines
  • Must be flexible with working hours and adaptable to change.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred

Local news management: 5 years (Preferred)
