GROTON, Conn. (WLNE) — The driver of a fuel truck who died in a fiery crash on a major bridge in Connecticut was identified as Wallace Fauquet III, 42, of Stonington.

Connecticut State Police shared the identity of the deceased Friday evening after a column of black smoke poured into the sky from the Gold Star Bridge for hours.

Fauquet’s sister said they started a GoFundMe for his wife and two children.

She said he was doting, devoted and a loving husband to his wife and his children were everything to him.

Fauquet was further described as being hard-working, caring and charismatic.

The fundraiser for Wallace has surpassed its $100,000 goal and can be accessed here.
