WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos issued a statement on Friday regarding a vote by Breeze Airways’ pilots to unionize.

“I welcome as they make Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport a new hub for the airline, but doing business in our state means recognizing the rights of workers to bargain collectively,” said Matos.

Matos celebrated the airlines expansion, as Gov. Dan McKee announced that T.F. Green would serve as a base of operations earlier this week.

“I look forward to speaking with Breeze leadership in the coming days to ensure that workers they plan to hire in Rhode Island will be able to organize freely,” Matos added.
