Rhode Island FC names former Major League Soccer player as head coach
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s pro-soccer team now has its coach.
Former Major League Soccer player Khano Smith was named as Rhode Island FC’s head coach and general manager.
Rhode Island FC begins play in 2024 in a new stadium at Tidewater Landing in Pawtucket.
Smith played for the New England Revolution in the MLS and captained the Bermuda National Team.
He said he intends to build a team Rhode Island will be proud of. Smith played with Cranston native and Rhode Island FC co-founder Michael Parkhurst on the Revs.
