Rhode Island ranked number 2, most at risk for identity theft
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The National Council on Identity Theft Protection released a study that ranked the Ocean State with the second highest risk of identity theft.
The council ranked all 50 states on their number of reported identity thefts and frauds over the last three years to determine the most at-risk.
The Ocean State ranked number two with the highest number of identity thefts per-capita in 2020 and 2021.
The list of states most at risk for identity theft are is as follows:
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
The list of states least at risk for identity theft is as follows:
- South Dakota
- West Virginia
- New Mexico
