Wintry mix to rain tonight
The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for northern and western Providence county starting at 4pm and continuing through midday Thursday. Rain will move in this evening and quickly change to snow. We’ll see a wintry mix of snow and rain with a little sleet in northern RI tonight. Expect rain at the south coast. Everyone in RI and southeastern MA will be warm enough for rain by the a.m. commute Thursday. If you commute to the north, be aware that travel conditions will become more treacherous especially north of the MA Pike.
We’ll get a break in the precipitation on Thursday as we await the next pulse of moisture Thursday night. Friday morning could result in some icy travel locally.
Friday the wind brings in colder air as an arctic high pressure system builds in to deliver a very cold Saturday! Saturday night and Sunday night may both feature some snow showers moving through but our focus is for next Monday-Tuesday when a significant winter storm could impact New England.
