E. coli detected in Kearney swimming pond

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Health officials said Friday there is E. coli in a Kearney swimming pond.
According to samples taken on Monday, the Cottonmill Swimming Pond has bacteria levels higher than normal.
But the Two Rivers Public Health Department said a health alert has not been issued and signs have not been posted at the pond due to rapid changes in bacteria conditions.
Officials said swallowing or any kind of exposure to the water can be dangerous.
If you have been in contact with the lake water, wash your hands before eating and shower afterward.
Officials said in a press release that people should “use their own judgment” when deciding whether to use the pond
