Kelsey is from Omaha, where she says she spent a good deal of her childhood growing up in the newsroom at the television station, where her mother worked. Kelsey says, “Some nights the conference table was my dinner table, the assignment desk doubled as a key hide and seek spot, and the studio set is where I put on pretend news casts with my sisters”. So you could say that broadcast journalism is in her blood.
Kelsey started out on her career when she enrolled into the Broadcast Journalism School on the UNL campus. Before she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism, she interned at the ABC affiliate in Omaha and interned during her senior year with Channel 8 Eyewitness News. She also studied journalism at the University of Westminster in London, England. “I am a curious person with a passion for story telling”, she says. Kelsey started working as a photojournalist for Channel 8 Eyewitness News in 2015. “There is a story to be told here in Lincoln and I am honored to be given the opportunity to find it and share it”, says Kelsey. She adds that she is not afraid to ask the tough questions.
She is the middle child of three girls in her family and her dad is in advertising. She says that her favorite food is anything with sugar. She enjoys reading, spending time with her two sisters and spending time with her two dogs Rusty and Jack.
