Kids return to school as officials still warn of slick roads from winter storm

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Winter break is officially over for most kids across the state.

The majority of school districts returned to the classroom on Wednesday after canceling classes the past couple days due to winter weather.

Lincoln Public Schools is back in session on Wednesday after the extended break.

The City of Lincoln said early Wednesday that arterial streets are still partially covered with snow and that drivers should expect some to be wet and slushy.

Also, drivers should watch out for any slick spots that refroze overnight.

Officials from multiple agencies continue to preach caution on the roads even as conditions improve in some areas.

The city said snowplows are “wrapping up granular salt with brine treatment of arterial, school and bus routes.”

Lincoln’s emergency parking ban ended at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday.
