Lancaster County health department provides COVID-19 update

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reports 42 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the community total to 28,965.

The death toll remains at 224.

More than 15,500 people have recovered from the virus, with more than 125,000 vaccines administered.

The weekly positivity rate will now be calculated differently. LLCHD is now using the same formula as the state, by dividing the number of positive tests by the number of total tests taken. This week’s positivity rate is now 5.7%.

Twenty-seven COVID patients are currently hospitalized (23 from Lancaster County). One patient is on a ventilator.
