Lancaster County Rural Water District enacts mandatory water restrictions
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lancaster County Rural Water District customers must reduce their sprinkler usage by 50%, officials said Thursday.
Due to low water levels in the towers, Manager Jordon Bang said the district is implementing a mandatory reduction in sprinkler usage.
If customers don’t follow the restrictions, the district will ban sprinkler use for the rest of the year, Bang said in a statement.
“The Lancaster Rural Water District is implementing a MANDATORY reduction in customers sprinkler usage. We are asking customers that run sprinkler systems to cut run times by 50% due to water levels in our elevated towers. If the District does not see a reduced amount of water being demanded due to the mandatory reduction, we will have no choice but to ban sprinkler use for the rest of the year.” Thank You. Jordon Bang, District Manager.
Earlier this month, the City of Lincoln issued voluntary water restrictions due to “extreme” drought conditions.
