Thru lacing up and hitting the pavement, Lincolnites are lighting the way to a better future for Lincoln Public students.

The light the way 5k at Holmes Lake this morning raised money for the lighthouse, it’s an after school program in Lincoln.

The lighthouse offers year-round academic support, evening meals and activities for Middle and High school students.

It’s all about the kids – there was a mile run for them too – and this run helped raise money for the program that has a lot of community support.

"We are here at a family friendly event to help a great organization in Lincoln that is near and dear to all of our hearts," said Tyler Reynolds the Event’s organizer.

More than 80 people participated, raising more than $2,000 for the program.
