Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews battle house fire in frigid temperatures
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews fought flames at a home in subzero temps early Monday morning.
Around 5:15 a.m., several crews were sent to a house fire near 56th and Sumner streets.
A Channel 8 reporter at the scene saw flames and heavy smoke coming from the home’s roof.
LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said additional crews were called in to help due to weather conditions.
The fire started in the basement and spread to the attic, according to Lierman. The house is considered a total loss.
Lierman also said the fire caused $25,000 in damage to the home’s contents.
