Lincoln kitchen fire prompts roof rescue in Near South neighborhood

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A kitchen fire in the Near South neighborhood on Thursday prompted a roof rescue by first responders.

Just before 9:15 a.m., several units were sent to a home near 21st and Sumner streets.

LFR said burnt food in the kitchen caused the house to fill with smoke.

According to LFR, a girl climbed onto the roof and shut the window to get away from the smoke.

First responders were able to get the girl down from the roof, and no injuries were reported.

No damages were reported due to the smoke.
