Lincoln Lutheran secures Class C2 state volleyball title

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Lutheran Warriors swept the Archbishop-Bergan Knights securing a Class C2 state title.

Archbishop-Bergan began set one up 5-0 before the Warrior offense battled back to take the first set 25-18.

Set 2 was back and forth the entire way but Lincoln Lutheran held off a late rally to win 25-22.

In set 3, the Warriors secured the sweep beating the Knights 25-15.

The win caps off a perfect 40-0 season and is the Warriors first Class C2 title but is the programs third state championship in four years.

Senior Abby Wachal finished the game with 18 kills followed by junior Sophie Wohlgemuth who collected 11.

Wachal graduates with 1,526 career kills, over 140 service aces and 142 blocks.

Senior Elecea Saathoff collected her 4th state title in her second year with Lincoln Luetheran after transferring from Diller-Odell.

She led the team with 24 digs capping off an impressive high school career.

This was the first year the Warriors competed in Class C2.
