Lincoln man sentenced for crash that killed his passenger

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man has been sentenced in connection to a crash that left his passenger dead.

A judge on Friday sentenced 20-year-old Marvin Rivas Villanueva to 18 months in prison. He was given credit for 522 days already served.

Rivas Villanueva was found guilty in July of motor vehicle homicide with reckless or willful reckless driving, according to court documents. He was behind the wheel on March 29 of last year when he lost control, spun into oncoming traffic and caused a four-vehicle accident at intersection near Gateway Mall.

Jared Williams, a rear passenger in the car driven by Rivas Villanueva was pronounced dead at a Lincoln hospital.
