Two Lincoln men helped pull the victims of a fiery crash out of their vehicles Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on Hwy. 77 in Dodge County.

The Nebraska State Patrol said troopers arrived on the scene to find the semi, which was hauling fireworks, fully engulfed in flames with fireworks inside still actively exploding.

Two men from Lincoln who witnessed the accident (and did not want to be identified) told Channel 8 Eyewitness News they helped get the occupants out.

“We just don’t feel we need any recognition,” one of the men said. “We did what we knew had to be done, and hope someone else would have done the same for us if the tables were turned.”

NSP says both occupants of the SUV were taken to a hospital in Fremont. The driver was then flown to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The driver of the semi was treated at the scene.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
